Stair Treads

Carefully count each individual stair step you plan to cover. Don't forget any landings! Getting an accurate count is the first step to ensuring you have everything you need for a seamless, no-stress installation.

Using a tape measure, find the distance from the very front edge of the step (the 'nose') back to the vertical part (the 'riser'). This depth measurement is critical for ensuring your treads provide full, secure coverage and peace of mind for your family.

Measure the full, usable width of your stair from one side to the other. This measurement helps you visualize how the tread will sit on the stair and allows you to plan for the 'reveal' we'll discuss in the next step.

The 'reveal' is the space of exposed wood on the left and right sides of your tread. A common reveal is a half-inch to one inch on each side, but it's a matter of personal style. This final choice brings your design vision to life, perfectly balancing the warmth of the tread with the character of your stairs.
