Step 3 · Capturing Each Tread's Dimensions
With the unique turn measured, it's time to focus on the individual steps that make up each flight. For every single tread on both sections of your U-shaped staircase, you'll need to measure its width and depth. This is where precision truly shines! It's absolutely critical to measure from the edge of one tread to the edge of the next – what we call 'tread to tread' – rather than from wall to wall. And don't forget to include any existing trim or overhangs in your measurements. This meticulous approach ensures that your Oak Valley Designs carpet treads will fit accurately, protecting your beautiful wooden stairs from scratches and wear, and providing a safer, more stylish surface for your family.
Measure 'tread to tread' and include trim or overhangs for a perfect fit, not wall to wall.
