Step 2 · Precise Width Measurement for Each Unique Winder
With your tape measure in hand, meticulously record the length of the narrowest edge (typically the inner curve of the turn) and the widest edge (usually the outer curve) for each identified winder step. Once you have both measurements for a single winder, calculate their average. This average will be the specific width dimension for that particular winder tread. Additionally, make sure to record the absolute smallest width you measure across all your winder steps, as this will be your crucial base ordering measurement for a consistent look and feel. This attention to detail ensures your custom-cut treads will truly elevate your staircase.
Average your narrowest and widest edge measurements for each winder, and note the absolute smallest width across all winders for your base order size.
