Mix and Apply Patching Compound

What happens in this clip

Once the chipped area is completely dry, you'll need a concrete-vinyl patching compound. These are available off the shelf at most big box stores and are easy to use. Simply add a small amount of water to the powdered mixture and mix it until you achieve a peanut butter-like consistency. Apply the compound to the chipped out area using a masonry trowel or a disposable trowel. Feather out the surrounding area to match the existing concrete. For corner chips or areas next to expansion joints, you may need to take a little extra time to carefully form the patch to follow the existing contours.

Step 3 of 5: Apply the Patching Compound

Using a trowel or putty knife, scoop a portion of the mixed patching compound and press it firmly into the crack or chip. Work the compound into all voids and ensure it makes good contact with the underlying concrete. Overfill slightly to allow for shrinkage and easier feathering.
