About the full video

This DIY project guides you through stenciling a staircase riser to add a decorative touch and personalize your home. It involves cleaning the surface, preparing and applying adhesive stencils, priming the stenciled areas, painting with an enamel paint, and finally removing the stencils and cleaning up. An optional step to apply a clear sealant for durability is also discussed.

Step 4 of 6: Stencil Application (if applicable)

Position the stencil on the stair riser where you want the design. Secure the stencil using painter's tape. Using a stencil brush or a small foam roller, apply paint over the stencil openings. Use a dabbing or light rolling motion to avoid paint bleeding under the stencil. Once painted, carefully remove the stencil while the paint is still slightly wet.
