What happens in this clip
Begin by accurately measuring the total length of the wall where the skirting board will be installed. Once measured, take your skirting board and use a hand saw to cut it slightly longer than the measured length. This 'oversized' cut provides a small margin for error and makes it easier to handle before making final precise cuts.

Step 4 of 10: Measure and Cut New Skirt Boards
Measure the length of the wall where each skirt board will be installed. Account for any angles at the top or bottom of the stairs. Use a tape measure for accuracy. Transfer these measurements to your new skirt board material and mark your cut lines. Use a miter saw or a hand saw to make precise cuts. For angled cuts at the base or top of the stairs, use a miter saw or protractor to set the correct angle.
