Once the wood filler is completely dry, use a random orbital sander (or sanding block) with fine-grit sandpaper to sand all filled areas until they are smooth and flush with the trim surface. Pay close attention to the seams and nail holes. For cleaner sanding, attach a dust collection hose to your sander, and wear a dust mask and safety glasses to protect yourself from airborne particles.
Goal: Achieve a smooth, flush surface ready for painting.
This project guides you through installing Craftsman-style door trim for under $50. It involves measuring, cutting, and securely attaching vertical and horizontal wooden boards around a door frame, followed by filling nail holes, caulking seams, sanding, and finally painting to achieve a clean, classic look.
Once the wood filler is dry, lightly sand all the filled nail holes and any rough spots on the new skirt boards and trim with fine-grit sandpaper. The goal is to create a smooth surface for painting. After sanding, wipe down all surfaces with a tack cloth or a slightly damp cloth to remove all dust.
This project involves removing old stair skirt boards and trim, preparing the wall and stairs, and installing new skirt boards and trim for a refreshed look. It includes measuring, cutting, fitting, fastening, and finishing the new trim pieces.
