Remove Old Baseboards

Begin the project by carefully removing the existing baseboards. Insert a pry bar or a flat, sturdy tool behind the baseboard, close to a stud if possible, and gently pry it away from the wall. Use a hammer to tap the pry bar further in or to assist in leverage. Work your way along the length of the baseboard, prying it off in sections. Be cautious not to damage the drywall behind the baseboard, as this will require additional repair work.

Continue this process along the entire length of the skirt board and any associated trim until it is completely detached.
